About Us

The responsibilities for the Abia State Office of Diaspora Matters include but are not limited to the following:

• Identify pool of professionals in diverse fields from Abia State indigenes in the Diaspora who wish to make contributions to the development of our state via:
~policy suggestions
~special intervention projects
~linkages to individuals and/or organizations interested in adding value to the state
~participating in already established initiatives such as Made in Aba promotion, medical equipment supplies etc
~Act as a clearing house for investment and development ideas from the Diaspora
~Assist the government in ensuring that they only deal with legitimate agencies and individuals to prevent fraud by doing the research, and gathering the necessary background information
~Work with the Chief of Staff and other staff as needed to arrange meetings for the Governor with Abia Diasporas and other individuals of interest abroad
~Ascertain the administration’s immediate and future needs abroad, and assist in securing the right match as needed
~Act as the administration’s Liaison with Abia organizations and groups abroad as needed
~Act as ambassador plenary for Abia state in Diaspora
~Assist in special assignments abroad and in Abia as needed
~Assist where and when possible in the welfare of Abians in the diaspora

To enable us achieve these goals; in the upcoming weeks we will be seeking and establishing a data base of Abians (individuals and organizations) across the globe.
